I thought that it would be super fun to start doing wedding recaps because I see a lot of brides and every single bridal party is different!
Julie Anna came to me in January of 2021 to get started planning her June 2021 wedding. Right away Julie Anna and I clicked; she's a dog mom of two super sweet Labs and knew exactly what she wanted, plus was super organized to get everything booked six months in advance! Julie Anna is so much fun to talk to and I really enjoyed sharing ideas back and forth. Julie Anna told me her and her fiance Andre were getting married at Fossil Creek and their colors were silver and sage. They both fell in love with the venue and the beautiful wood accents and wanted to complement the reception space with greenery and white flowers. As for how she wanted to look, Julie Anna was clear about a classic and simple look; she wanted to keep her hair up in a textured low bun since she was getting married in the dead of the hot Texas summer and wanted makeup to complement her gown, which had a low back and long train. It was also so refreshing that Julie Anna had a lot of great ideas about how she wanted the morning of the wedding to go, which I was so appreciative of because I feel like the morning of and the getting ready portion are not always considered until talking it out with the glam squad. Julie Anna really wanted to make sure that her large bridal party was comfortable and decided to forego getting ready at the venue for a hotel suite. That does have it's advantages because everyone can spread out and there is plenty of space for the glam team to work as well as the space for her girls to spread out, eat snacks and work on their laptops if necessary. Almost all of her bridal party was coming in from out of town, so their comfort was a major concern, which I absolutely appreciated! Additionally, getting ready at a hotel allowed us to come early to the room, which was helpful because her and her bridal party had a short time to get ready before they hopped on the party bus for pictures around Waco.
I cannot say enough good things about Julie Anna and her bridal party. Julie Anna's mom and Andre's mom and step mom were so wonderful to start out the morning of appointments and I had equally as much fun with Julie Anna's sisters and friends. Some of her bridal party had been friends with Julie Anna since childhood and others met Julie Anna in college. It was really nice to listen to them share stories about things that they used to do when they were younger and about the good ol college days! My glam team Emily and Jamie did such a wonderful job helping me get all of her girls ready. I am so thankful for my team, they take care of wedding parties and help me like nobody else! You are only as good as your team and I feel like I am blessed with the best team around!!
For Julie Anna's makeup I wanted to keep it classic looking, but add a little pop of color to her lid. I went with a golden copper and brown to smoke out the corners thanks to my Morphe Palette and classic MAC Cosmetic colors like Espresso and Embark. I added lashes and definition to her eyebrows using the Anastasia Brow Book. For her skin it was really important to me to have something with staying power because of the Texas heat and humidity, but also wanted the ability to manipulate the product to look like skin. I chose MAC Cosmetics Studio Fix Fluid and set with Mineralize Skinfinish Powder. I added a touch of Studio Fix concealer under Julie Anna's eyes in two different colors to neutralize darkness and brighten. I added a little color to her cheeks using my favorite MAC blush color that has long been discontinued, but I love it just the same. It's called Tenderling and I seriously wish that MAC would bring it back because it is the perfect color for light to medium skin tone blondes. I topped her cheeks off with a little glow and added Soar lip liner and really neutral lip color that looked a lot like Julie Anna's natural lip color.
Julie Anna's hair was clean and dry, something that I require all of my brides to have when they come to me on their wedding day, so adding grit for her up-do was my first task. I used Osis+ Texture Craft 2 spray on her hair to provide me with that grit I needed and then worked on adding volume to the crown area with my Big Sexy Hair Powder Play texture powder and a comb to add light teasing. I used my L'ange curing wand to add the texture I needed then started pinning. I always work with Kenra 13 spray while I'm curling for flexible hold and then do a hard spray a the end with Kenra 25 spray to lock the style in place. We chose to add a few face framing pieces to provide whimsy and some interest around her face. Her veil was pinned in later.
I couldn't be happier with how gorgeous Julie Anna and her bridal party looked for the wedding. Thank you again Julie Anna for being such a pleasure to work with. I wish you and Andre a lifetime of love and happiness!
